Vision of Arpookara Grama Panchayat
"To develop Arpookara into a model Gram Panchayat that ensures social justice, economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and an enhanced quality of life for all citizens through participatory governance and sustainable development."
The vision emphasizes preserving Arpookara’s educational heritage, agricultural wealth, water resources, and cultural diversity while harnessing modern development opportunities to create a green, inclusive, and people-centered local self-government. Arpookara is a rural local body in the Kottayam district of Kerala, known for its agricultural landscape, backwaters, educational institutions, and strong social development indicators.
Mission of Arpookara Grama Panchayat
1. Infrastructure Development
- Ensure safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for all households.
- Improve roads, public transportation facilities, and street lighting.
- Strengthen digital services and e-governance systems for efficient service delivery.
2. Social Welfare and Human Development
- Effectively implement welfare schemes for women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
- Promote public health, preventive healthcare, and healthy lifestyles.
- Enhance access to quality education, skill development, and youth empowerment programs.
3. Economic Development
- Modernize agriculture and provide support to farmers.
- Encourage self-employment, micro-enterprises, and Kudumbashree initiatives.
- Facilitate entrepreneurship development and vocational training for youth.
4. Environmental Conservation
- Strengthen integrated waste management systems.
- Protect water bodies, wetlands, and other natural resources.
- Promote afforestation, water conservation, climate-resilient development, and sustainable environmental practices.

- Strengthen the role and participation of Gram Sabhas.
- Ensure transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly administration.
- Encourage community participation in planning, implementation, and monitoring of development projects.
